Privacy Policy
Draft for review, November 4, 2026. Not yet final.
This page explains what Wine Ratings at glaciervineyard.com/ratings/ collects when you create an account and post, how it’s used, and how to delete it. Glacier Rock Vineyard runs Wine Ratings.
What we collect
- When you sign up: your full name, email address, username, password, taster experience level and country, and the date and time you confirmed that you are of legal drinking age (21 or older).
- What you post: your ratings, tasting notes, what you paired wines with, your comments, and any wines you add. Each rating also records the experience level and country you had when you first posted it, even if you change them later. We note which member added each wine; only our administrators see that.
- Reports: if you report a rating or comment, we keep the reason and any note you add. Only our moderators see reports, and they’re deleted with your account.
- Automatically: the date you joined and last logged in. To stop password guessing and spam sign-ups, we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address and of the name typed into the log-in form for up to one day. A cookie named gr_session keeps you logged in; your browser sends it only to Wine Ratings pages. The site’s age question is remembered in your own browser (gr-age, in its local storage) and isn’t sent to us. We use no advertising or tracking cookies, and no outside analytics.
Your password is never stored as typed. We keep only a one-way hash of it.
Who sees what
- Everyone: your username, experience level, country, the date you joined, and what you post: your ratings (with the level and country you posted them as), tasting notes, pairings and comments, and the wines you add (without your name).
- Only you and our administrators: your name and email address.
How we use it
- To run your account: logging in, resetting your password, and showing your experience level and country beside your ratings.
- To email you about your account: a welcome message, password resets, and notice of significant changes to these policies.
- To keep Wine Ratings safe from abuse.
We don’t sell your information or share it with advertisers. It’s stored on our web provider’s servers in the United States, and is only shared if the law requires it.
Wine Ratings pages load their styles, fonts, logos and scripts from glaciervineyard.com only. Our web provider may screen requests to the site for attacks, and may occasionally ask a visitor to prove they’re human.
Deleting your account
Log in, open your profile, and choose Delete my account. Your account, its details, and everything you posted (your ratings, tasting notes, pairings and comments, and the comments others left on your ratings) are removed from our database right away. Wines you added stay, without your name, because other members may have rated them. You can also delete a single rating or comment at any time.
Before each change to the database’s structure, we keep a backup copy on our server, out of public reach. Backups, and our web provider’s own backups, may hold deleted information until they’re replaced or removed.
We keep encrypted backups for 90 days, so information from a deleted account can remain in backups for up to 90 days before it’s removed.
You can correct your details on your profile page at any time.
Age
Wine Ratings is only for people of legal drinking age (21 or older). We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 21 has an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy significantly, we’ll tell members before it takes effect. Questions: inquiries@glaciervineyard.com.
